Padma Bridge is one of the dream projects of Bangladesh. It is a symbol of our pride, courage and ability. It is the world's sixth largest bridge. It is also the longest bridge in our country over the river, Padma. It has been constructed by the own funding of the Government of Bangladesh. The total cost of the bridge is more than thirty thousand crore taka. The bridge is about 36 km from our capital city, Dhaka. It is 6.15 km long and 21.65 metre wide. It has 42 pillars, 264 piles and 41 spans. It is a multi-purpose bridge. It has a four-lane highway on the upper level and a single track railway on the lower level. It has also options for gas and electricity transmission. The bridge has added a new dimension in our communication sector It has connected Mawa in Munshiganj district to Jajira in Shariatpur district. In fact, it has connected the south-western part of the country with the capital city and the eastern part. As a result, regional co-operation and transportation management have greatly been improved. Besides, it has created an opportunity of a revolutionary change in our industrial development and other sectors. Thus, it plays an important role in our economy. The honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina opened the bridge on 25th June 2022. Through the construction of the bridge the world has seen one more historical event of proud Bangladesh.
অনুবাদ: পদ্মা সেতু বাংলাদেশের একটি অন্যতম স্বপ্নের প্রকল্প। এটি আমাদের অহংকার, সাহস ও সক্ষমতার প্রতীক। এটি বিশ্বের ষষ্ঠ দীর্ঘতম সেতু। এছাড়া এটি পদ্মা নদীর উপর দেশের সর্ববৃহৎ সেতু। এটি বাংলাদেশ সরকারের নিজস্ব অর্থায়নে নির্মিত হয়েছে। সেতুটির সর্বমোট খরচ ৩০ হাজার কোটি টাকারও বেশি) রাজধানী শহর ঢাকা থেকে এর দূরত্ব প্রায় ৩৬ কিলোমিটার। সেতুটির দৈর্ঘ্য ৬.১৫ কিলোমিটার এবং প্রন্থ ২১.৬৫ মিটার। এর ৪২টি পিলার, ২৬৪টি পাইল এবং ৪১টি স্প্যান রয়েছে। এটি একটি বহুমুখী সেতু। এর উপরের স্তরে রয়েছে চার লেন বিশিষ্ট মহাসড়ক ও নিচের স্তরে রয়েছে একটি একক রেলপথ। এতে গ্যাস ও বিদ্যুৎ সঞ্চালনের সুযোগও রয়েছে। সেতুটি আমাদের যোগাযোগ ক্ষেত্রে এক নতুন মাত্রা যোগ করেছে। এটি মুন্সিগঞ্জ জেলার মাওয়াকে শরিয়তপুর জেলার জাজিরার সাথে সংযুক্ত করেছে। বস্তুত, এটি রাজধানী শহর ও পূর্বাঞ্চলের সাথে দেশের দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমাঞ্চলকে সংযুক্ত করেছে। ফলে আঞ্চলিক সহযোগিতা ও পরিবহন ব্যবস্থার উল্লেখযোগ্য উন্নয়ন সাধিত হয়েছে। এছাড়া এটি আমাদের শিল্পোন্নয়ন ও অন্যান্য ক্ষেত্রে এক বৈপ্লবিক পরিবর্তনের সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করেছে। এভাবে এটি আমাদের অর্থনীতিতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখছে। মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা ২০২২ সালের ২৫ জুন সেতুটির উদ্বোধন করেন। সেতুটি নির্মাণের মধ্য দিয়ে বিশ্ব গর্বিত বাংলাদেশের আরেকটি ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনা দেখতে পেল।
